Las playas de la ciudad
When the weather is nice in Barcelona, something that happens often, both locals and visitors lack time to grab their towels and head to the beach. The Mediterranean climate gives us almost nine months of good weather a year and the gay beaches of Barcelona are the perfect place to escape the heat and take a bath, while allowing you to relax, socialize, flirt, take a nap, have a drink or see beautiful bodies ...
La Mar Bella
Without a doubt, the Mar Bella beach is the most popular of the gay beaches in Barcelona. Slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the city center, you can easily reach it by metro (L4 Poble Nou), by bus or even on foot! It is the busiest Gay beach in Barcelona and is alive practically all day. In the morning countless people come gradually from all over the world , some still hungover ... In the afternoon it is difficult to find a square meter of free sand between so much speedo and the atmosphere begins to heat up. With the sunset, the chiringuitos, like the Begay, are in full swing. It is the perfect beach to go to take a nap to regain the strength of the day before, meet nice people from all over the world and have a couple of cocktails before returning to the Gaixample.
San Sebastià
More relaxed than the gay beach of Mar Bella, Sant Sebastià beach is very popular with gay couples who go to one of the oldest beaches in the city to relax, enjoy beautiful bodies and breathtaking views of the Barcelona skyline . Its good location, very close to the city center, makes Sant Sebastià beach quite busy and lively. Located next to the brand new Hotel W , after sunbathing you can go up to its terrace where you will enjoy spectacular views of the city while you enjoy one of its cocktails . The closest metro is L4 Barceloneta.
Chernóbil
As a cover letter, we must admit that this gay beach does not have the best of names, however, we cannot think of any more suitable: Chernobyl beach is located in the shadow of a gigantic thermal power station in the municipality of Sant Adrià de Besòs and can be reached in just 20 minutes by tram (T4 and T6 Estació de Sant Adrià ). With the plant already in disuse and protected by the oil bridge, the Chernobyl beach has a post-industrial air that makes it a unique beach. And it has, how could it be otherwise, with an LGTBI part . It is, without a doubt , the most morbid of the gay beaches in Barcelona , with quite a few people practicing cruising at any time of the day.
San Pol de Mar
Along the Catalan coast we find beautiful villages with hundreds of beaches where locals come in search of tranquility and surrounded by beautiful places. Sant Pol de Mar is one of them. This beautiful town just 50 minutes from Barcelona, has what is perhaps one of the most beautiful LGBTIQ + beaches on the Catalan coast. With its typically Mediterranean village atmosphere, labyrinthine streets, white houses and numerous beaches with fine sand and clear waters, Sant Pol de Mar is a paradise for those looking to get out of the city, a more relaxing option. Sant Pol de Mar has a very popular gay nudist beach with locals and is a haven of tranquility , although it also offers some entertainment for those who get bored ...
Playas en Sitges
Located just 40 minutes away from Barcelona by car or train, Sitges is a small town of less than 30,000 inhabitants that is every bit as good as the greatest European capitals, which is evidenced by its beauty, its number of bars, its nightlife, or the organization of festivals that take place here. With the relaxed atmosphere that is typical of a Mediterranean town full of small streets and white houses, Sitges has an open and tolerant society that has turned this town into one of the main gay destinations in the planet. In addition, Sitges has as many as 26 beaches that are sheltered by the jagged shapes of the Garraf mountains. Among them, there are 4 that have consolidated as the gay beaches of Sitges; two of them can be found in the town and two a little further away.
Playa de Balmins
Between the old town of Sitges and the sports marina, Balmins beach is a beehive of suntanned bodies. Most of the people there sunbathe completely naked and they have a must-attend appointment with the sun every morning, but they become more sociable as the afternoon falls. It’s really easy to get off the beach with plans for later. The only downside to Balmins beach is that it’s hard to find a square meter on which to spread out the towel! Balmins is a real swarm of gay life; a place where meeting new people is more than easy: it’s inevitable.
Playa de la Bassa Rodona
The beach of Bassa Rodona is the main gay beach of Sitges and the most centrally located one, situated just a few minutes away on foot from the famous carrer del Pecat (calle del Pecado street) and 10 minutes away from the train station. The sand is fine, clean and pleasant, the waves are gentle and the water is warm. As you walk into the sea, the ground level will be progressively but slightly deeper with each step: ten meters into the sea and the water level will barely cover your knee! The Bassa Rodona beach is a paradise of muscular bodies and tight speedos. As if that was not good enough, the surfers from the surf school that practice on the same beach will complete the perfect view!
Cala de l'Home Mort
For lovers of tranquility, the best option is, without any doubt, Cala de l’Home Mort cove, the favorite gay beach for lovers of nudism and peaceful environments. It is a bit far from the urban center, about forty minutes on foot (it has a medium level of access difficulty), but you can take a pleasant stroll and enjoy the landscape and the nature before you get there and breathe peace and tranquility.
Playa Desenrocada
Walking a few meters from the Cala of l’Home Mort cove, you can easily find the Desenrocada beach. Just as in Cala de l’Home Mort cove, this is a nudist beach surrounded by a spectacular landscape. The difficulty to access this area makes it an isolated and quiet place where you can find shingles instead of sand and enjoy the sea of Sitges with some spectacular views.
